The Nd:YAG treatment for thread vein removal is more or less painless.
The laser light passes safely through the skin and coagulates the blood in the targeted blood vessel. This causes the vein to break down and be reabsorbed into the surrounding cells.
The Nd:YAG laser emits light which is readily absorbed by blood vessels, heating them to point where they are destroyed.
Best results are seen with people who have fine veins of less than 2.5mm and untanned skin. Facial, chest and upper leg thread veins are usually the most suitable for treatment by laser.
Depending on the amount of veins to be treated we have different treatment times – 5 minutes and 12 minutes.
Following treatment, the vessels quickly clear as they are reabsorbed by the body, leaving little or no trace of the original lesion.
The skin may be red and swollen immediately after treatment but this usually subsides within a few hours. Some veins will darken in colour initially but this resolves as the areas heals.
We recommend 1-3 treatments are necessary for optimal results.
